Bill Ellerton
My official “posh” name is Bill Charles William Ellerton, but I prefer to be called Bill.
I’m an accomplished Director and Executive with extensive leadership experience across Australia and New Zealand. I have worked as a Director and General Manager in the Information Technology (IT), Point of Sale (POS), Industrial Automation, Financial Services, and Not-for-Profit (NFP) sectors for organisations that delivered services, solutions and projects to an incredibly wide range of customers. This includes those in the manufacturing, financial services, pharmaceutical, supply chain, forestry, pulp and paper, maritime, defence, mining and metals, food and beverage, infrastructure, education and children’s health sectors.
I have successfully led significant multidisciplinary teams and large-scale projects and have served on numerous boards and committees over my career. I have chaired and participated in many Project Approval Review Boards (PARBs). Which are risk management and financial review boards.
What I deliver to Boards and the organisations they govern, as a result of my skills, experience, and knowledge, is:
Strategic Thinking, Innovation and Development – Extensive experience in creating and executing business strategies that align with organisational goals.
Financial and Risk Management – Skills in overseeing financial performance, managing risks, and providing governance and audit oversight.
Information Technology – Proficiency in integrating new technologies and driving innovation. I am able to help Boards interpret technobabble, demystify technology and understand the business benefits.
Governance and Compliance – Strong background in corporate governance, with significant experience serving on and working with boards and committees focused on regulatory compliance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
Cultural awareness and diversity – I have led significant multicultural teams. I also understand that it is ultimately the board’s job to set and monitor the culture of the organisation it governs.
Leadership and Change Management – Proven track record in leading large teams, driving cultural transformation, and improving organisational effectiveness.
Organisational Performance Management – We all know that measuring organisational performance is a critical part of a board’s responsibility. I have developed a Hierarchical Reporting Model to assist with this. I am also very focused on understanding the prospective performance indicators for a business, not just looking at retrospective indicators.
Ethical Integrity – I foster transparency, accountability, and principled decision-making in all professional undertakings.
I have developed and executed strategies that drive growth, innovation, operational excellence, improved productivity and profitability. I would bring such skills and experience to any board or organisation that I serve whilst understanding that it is a board’s role to Govern an organisation, not to interfere in day-to-day operations directly, other than in special circumstances. My diverse board experience spans a wide area, reflecting my governance and strategic oversight versatility.
I offer my services as a Board Director (NED) and to assist Boards in an Advisory or Consulting manner.
I offer free strategic planning workshops for Not-For-Profit (NFP) organisations from time to time. Some terms and conditions naturally apply.
